Every August, young women of Irish descent from all over the world head to Tralee, County Kerry, on the South West coast of Ireland, to represent their state or country in the
International Rose of Tralee Quest.

Originally developed in 1959 to increase tourism to Tralee, the Quest (based on its name-sake love song) has grown in popularity and is now the highlight of the Festival of Kerry -
the second largest annual festival in Europe.

Entrants are judged on their ability to act as an ambassador for their state or country,
their presentation and personality. This is not a beauty contest.

Two Australian women have been crowned the International Rose of Tralee since the birth of the International Quest. Including Lisa Manning from Perth.

South Australia has participated in the International Rose of Tralee Quest since the early 70s.

"We believe it's time for a South Australian Rose to take the honours!"

Entrants are required to obtain an individual sponsor for the duration of the SA Quest
and participate in popular Irish and Celtic festivals such as the St Patrick's Day Parade and
Kapunda Celtic Festival. Quiz nights, fundraisers, media interviews and the Grand Selection Ball are also key elements of the SA Quest aimed at providing public speaking, fundraising and media experience for our Roses as well as a taste of the attention they will receive in Ireland.
